Bird watching -

You can start the day watching the Sun Rise and the bird life from the terrace. The garden is frequently visited by peacocks and many other beautiful birds.

Beaches -

The unspoilt beaches are only a minutes stroll from the house and are great for swimming and body boarding.

Turtles -

Tangalle is famous for its turtles - stop by at the turtle sanctuary in nearby Rekawa.

Temples -

Travel in land past paddy fields to the ancient Rock Temple at Mulkirigala or Wewurukannala Temple with its giant 165ft high Buddha

Markets -

The vibrant local markets are a great way to experience the Sri Lankan way of life.

Festival -

Head to Kataragama (about 70km from Tangalle) for one of the country’s most important religious sites. Buddhists, Muslims and Hindus all come, and the Hindu festival in August usually draws a good crowd.

Amimal/Safari -

you could take a trip to Uda Walawe game reserve or Yala national park if you’d like to see wild elephants, Leopards and other wild life.

Diving -

Tangalle has a dive centre which arranges trips to a nearby reef.
